What Causes Cellulite

Identifying what causes cellulite can be difficult. There are many factors that can contribute to someone developing cellulite. Sometimes it isn’t one single cause, but a combination of several factors.  Some of the things that can lead to to the development of cellulite are:

A Change In Hormone Levels

Hormones have a significant role on the fat, water retention and blood circulation of the body. A rapid change in hormone levels can increase the development of cellulite. Puberty, pregnancy and menopause are all culprits in causing an increase in cellulite.

Genetics

Cellulite is a condition that is hereditary. Women with moms that have cellulite are more likely to develop cellulite themselves.

Effects of Aging

Cellulite has a greater chance of developing as women age.  The reason for this is that the skins surface thins as people age, fat deposits become more visible.

Poor Diet

An improper diet which contains a lot of alcohol, processed foods, caffeine, and sugar can also contribute to cellulite.  These unhealthy foods produces toxins that get trapped in fatty tissues which may lead to the development of  cellulite. A lack of vitamins an minerals can also lead to unhealthy skin and cellulite.

Not Enough Exercise

Nothing getting enough exercise can also aid the development of cellulite. This is because not exercising can lead to  the connective tissues of the skin hardening and causing dimples.

Smoking

Smoking can have the same effect as not getting enough exercise. Smoking can damage the connective tissues in your body and cause the dimpled effect of cellulite.

Medication

Certain types of medication such as diet pills, sleeping pills, and birth control pills can also increase the chances of cellulite.

Take these possible causes of cellulite into consideration when you looking at ways to get rid of cellulite. Maybe a change in habits will be enough.
