Men Can Have Cellulite Too!

men and celluliteWhen you listen to women talking “girl talk” you will likely hear cellulite come up in the conversation at least once.  Women tend to share their body image problems with ease when in public.  Men on the other don’t.  You would never hear a bunch of men talking about their cellulite problems.  Although you wouldn’t likely catch this type of conversation, men do have cellulite too.  In fact, they are only slightly less likely to have it then women.  Men do usually have cellulite in different areas than women as well.  Take a look at this information and why men may not be willing to share their cellulite complaints like women.

Body Image

For the most part, women simply worry about their cellulite and their body image more than men.  Men can still feel great about themselves when they are overweight, have a bad hair day, or have cellulite.  They typically don’t think about these things at great length.  They are more accepting of themselves and don’t ponder upon these physical things.  However, when it comes to other things, they may ponder (such as athletic ability).  This can be a good lesson for women.  If you are worried your man will think your cellulite is horrific, remember how little they think about those types of things and feel better about yourself instantly!

Communication

Even if a man does worry about his cellulite, he is not as likely to talk to anyone, even his spouse, about it.  Men often feel worse when they let their insecurities out, which is why those men with cellulite won’t ever confess.  While women feel better when they share, men can get very insecure when sharing something that they may consider as a “weakness”.  So, even if you notice that your man has cellulite, don’t bring the subject up unless you expect a defensive response.  If your man does choose to talk about his cellulite, treat the subject with great sensitivity.

Physical Activity

One reason some men are less likely to even have cellulite is because they are more active then many women.  In fact, men are more likely to have toned legs and buttocks.  Their “problem areas” are more likely to be their abs and their chest.  Women on the other hand likely consider their legs and buttocks “problem areas”.  With cellulite being most likely to show up on these locations, it can be seen why women are more likely to show cellulite.  Keep in mind however that cellulite is not confined to the thigh or buttocks area.

So as you can see, women are not the only gender that suffers from cellulite.  Men can have it too!  However, just because men have cellulite doesn’t mean they are going to open up and talk about it like women do.  They will also be less likely to try treatments on it and likely would rather just live with it.  Although the cellulite in women and men is the same, the way the genders traditionally approach the subject is not identical.
